KOSOVO MARKED THE INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA.

Today, on 17 May 2019, the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia in Kosovo was celebrated on the occasion of raising awareness of violations of LGBTI rights and promoting interest in the rights of LGBTI people around the world.

Two organizations Center for Social Development – CSGD, and Center for Equality and Liberty – CEL as an annual activity held the conference “Constitutional and Equal Rights for LGBTI Persons” in Pristina.

The conference was supported by civil society organizations, Ambassador of the United States of America, Mr.Philip S. Kosnett, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Ms. Gerrie Willems, as well as the European Union Office in Kosovo,represented by Deputy Head of EU Office, Mr. Riccardo Serri.

In this conference with two themed panels; The partnership between the same persons of the same sex in the civil code project and diversity among communities was discussed over reviewing the legislation on the full inclusion of LGBTI persons and the needs of other marginalized communities in our society.

The International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia in Kosovo has been marked since 2007.
